Aglianico is reputed to be the "original" grape variety introduced to the Italian peninsula by the greeks. The name itself is a variation of "Hellenico" which means Greek in Greek! Dark plum and chocolate are the aromas most often encountered in the wine. Somewhat tannic when young but possessing a boldness that wune lovers find appealing in its youth and enticing with some age.
